Born in Newfoundland, Canada, Victor Browne spent his childhood traveling throughout the world as one of eight children in an Air Force family. Moving from bases in Morocco to stations throughout the United States, the one consistent thread in Browne's life was that he was always interested in acting. He appeared in community-theatre productions while majoring in business at Georgia State University in Atlanta, and after graduation he moved to New York City to study with David Gideon of the Strasberg Institute.
Browne launched his career in daytime drama television; he appeared for nearly two years on One Life to Live, in a regular role as Drew Buchanan. He went on to star as series regular Michael Bell on the WB's Rescue 77. He has also guest-starred on numerous television series, including HBO's Sex & the City and Charmed.
Browne's feature-film credits include a starring role in the Phillip Roth feature MindStorm, slated for release in 2003; and a turn in the critically acclaimed independent film I Shot Andy Warhol, in which he played one of Warhol's assistants. He also appeared in a cameo role in the Miramax film 54, in which he was paired with Cindy Crawford.
